Facility for obtaining news about Indians in New York

HYDERABAD, SEP. 12. The State Government has opened a round-the- clock control room to enable people get information about the casualties, particularly those from Andhra Pradesh, in the World Trade Centre attack.

While the telephone number is 040-3459043, the fax number is 040- 3452044. "This is in view of the numerous telephone calls from persons anxious to know about the whereabouts of their near and dear in New York," an official spokesman said here on Wednesday.

"The control room in Hyderabad will be in touch with the one set up by the Indian Consulate in New York and as and when information about Indian nationals trickles in, the same would be relayed. People can call up the control room in the City for details." The Consulate contact numbers are 001-212-774-0625 and 001-212-774-0604.

As of now, the Consulate at New York is yet to obtain any information about the Indian survivors, the spokesman added.
