Revenue staff stir enters second day

HYDERABAD, SEPT. 12. The State-wide indefinite strike by revenue employees entered the second day on Wednesday. The AP Revenue Services Association claimed that the strike was a total success with most of the 35,000 employees participating in it.

In a press release, association president, Mr. K. Lakshmaiah, and the general secretary, Mr.T. Sudhakar Prasad, alleged that some collectors were resorting to victimisation and harassment. The employees in Warangal district, who could not join the stir for different reasons, would do so from tomorrow.

The State association reviewed the situation and decided to intensify the struggle. It has decided to organise dharnas before all Collectorates on September 13 to coincide with the commencement of the Assembly session, demonstrate before taluk headquarters on September 14. The striking employees would gherao the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration (CCLA) Office and Collectorates and revenue divisional officers on September 15 and 16, and picket the same offices on September 17 and 18.

The Confederation of Revenue Employees comprising village servants, VAOs, the A.P. Revenue Services Association and AP CS (ex-br), deputy collectors association will meet on September 15 at the CCLA office to review the strike.
