Pak. offers full support to U.S.
Islamabad, Sept. 13. Pakistan has offered its `unstinted' cooperation to the United States in the fight against terrorism and said the attacks in New York and Washington has raised the struggle against terrorism to a new level.

Action against Afghanistan soon?
Islamabad, Sept. 13. The city is abuzz with speculation that an attack by the U.S. on Afghanistan is imminent in the wake of the terrorist strikes. Reports in the U.S. pointing to the involvement of the Saudi billionaire, Osama bin Laden (currently in Afghanistan), and the decision of the United Nations and Western NGOs to withdraw their workers from Afghanistan seem to have convinced diplomatic and political observers about possible U.S. strikes.

Vajpayee's U.S. trip virtually off
New Delhi, Sept. 13. The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) today decided that it would neither be feasible nor desirable for the Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee, to travel to New York in the context of the terrorist attacks there. The Prime Minister was scheduled to arrive in New York on September 22 to attend the United Nations General Assembly session.

Govt. discusses fallout of U.S. attacks on the region
New Delhi, Sept. 13. The Government is closely monitoring the signals coming from the U.S. administration to assess the fall- out of Tuesday's terrorist attacks in New York and Washington on countries in the region, including Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Osama moves into new hideout
Kabul, Sept. 13. Osama bin Laden moved to a new hiding place within minutes of the terrorist onslaught in the U.S., refusing to tell anyone where he was going or where he had been when the attacks occurred, sources in Pakistan's intelligence service said on Thursday.

Blast plans in Delhi thwarted
New Delhi, Sept. 13. The Delhi police has thwarted a militant strike in the capital by arresting two Pakistani militants and recovering a significant quantity of explosives.

SC reserves order on validity of Jayalalithaa's appointment
New Delhi, Sept. 13. Even as the Supreme Court today reserved orders on a batch of petitions challenging the appointment of Ms. Jayalalithaa as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister by the then Governor, the Attorney-General, Mr. Soli Sorabjee, told the court that in the event of her appointment being held invalid, ``Ms. Jayalalithaa and her Council of Ministers should resign''.

Warning on veil
Srinagar Sept. 13. The Lashkar-e-Jabbar (LeJ) militant outfit has warned women in J&K to observe ``purdah'' or face bullets from tomorrow. In a statement to a local newspaper a LeJ spokesman said ``from September 14 the women who are without veil will be shot at''.
