PM cancels visit to New York

NEW DELHI, SEPT. 14. The Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari
Vajpayee, has canceled his visit to the United States in the wake
of the terrorist strikes in New York and Washington.
The Prime Minister was scheduled to visit New York to address the
United Nations General Assembly. ``We do not wish to add to the
enormous strain on the U.S. authorities by added demands on
security when their energies are fully devoted towards search and
rescue operations'', a statement by the Ministry of External
Affairs said.
