Rajendra S. Lodha, President-elect of FICCI

NEW DELHI, SEPT. 15. Mr. Rajendra S. Lodha, a well-known chartered accountant, has become the President-elect of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). He will be assuming office at the conclusion of FICCI's 74th annual session later this year and will have the distinction of being the first professional from the services sector to occupy this post.

Mr. Lodha is senior partner of the leading accounting and consulting firm Lodha & Co which is the Indian member firm of BDO International (the sixth largest international accounting firm with annual billing of over $2.2 billion).

A past president of the Indian Chamber of Commerce, Kolkata, Mr. Lodha has served on the Central Board of State Bank of India. He is now the vice-president of the Indian Council of Arbitration.

Mr. Lodha is now serving on the Board of National Securities Depository Limited, Tourism Finance Corporation and Oriental Insurance and on SEBI's Committees on Takeover Code Review and on Disclosure in Offer Documents. Besides he is Chairman of Alfred Herbert (India) Ltd and co-chairman of Birla Corporation.

The FICCI president-elect was a member of working group set up by the Government totally recast the Companies Act and is now serving on the first National advisory Committee on Accounting Standards.
