U.S. told to reject Pak. ploy
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI, SEPT. 16. In defining a global campaign against
terrorism, the U.S. should clearly reject Pakistan's ``bargaining
tactics'', former Indian envoy, Mr. Naresh Chandra, associated
with the turnaround in Indo-U.S. ties said.
In a conversation with The Hinduhe said that by yielding to any
of Pakistan's demands, which include the dissociation of India
and Israel from the anti-terrorist campaign, the U.S. would send
a very negative signal domestically, and to the rest of the world
about its commitment to combat terrorism. Such a step would
weaken the emerging coalition of states against terrorism and
would have negative geopolitical repercussions, he said.
A perception that the U.S. resolve has weakened would only reward
the Taliban and international terror network radiating from
Afghanistan, he said.
