Imphal NRI dead in WTC crash
NEW YORK, SEPT. 16. Jupiter Yamben, a Non-Resident Indian from
Imphal was killed when one of the towers of World Trade Center
collapsed following the terrorist attacks in the U.S.
This was the first fatality of a person of Indian origin to be
confirmed by the authorities. Yamben was the manager of a
restaurant, `Windows on Word', located in the 103rd storey of the
WTC.
The Indian Consulate here has expressed grief over Yamben's
death. Though no figures are available, about 250 Indians are
still reported to be missing.
