Two naxals killed in faction feud
By Our Staff Reporter
WARANGAL, SEPT. 16. In an internecine clash, two naxalites of the
Praja Pratighatana faction were shot dead by their Pratighatana
rivals in the forest near Ramakrishnapuram village of Venkatapur
mandal last evening.
Police recovered three 8 MM rifles of Praja Pratighatana and one
weapon of the Pratighatana at the site.
The slain naxalites were identified as the deputy dalam commander
of Praja Pratighatana, Veshala Sammaiah alias Sammanna (35), and
a dalam member, Rampa Somaiah alias Somanna (30).
The former is a native of Velshalapalli village of Bhoopalpalli
mandal while the other hailed from Mooduchekkalapalli village of
Narsampet mandal.
It was first believed that they were killed in a police
encounter and when this was ruled out the possibility of the
People's War Group (PWG) was suspected.
Ultimately the role of the Pratighatana was established with the
recovery of a weapon owned by the Pratighatana.
Our Nizamabad Staff Reporter writes:
Members of the People's Guerrilla Army of the PWG were forced to
retreat into the Kadam forest after an exchange of fire with the
police between Gangapur and Allampalli villages under Kadam
police station limits of Adilabad district this morning.
The Adilabad Superintendent of police, Mr. Mahesh M.Bhagwat,
told THE HINDU that a police special party along with Greyhounds
personnel was on a combing operation in the forest.
They found some leftover food material and pursued the footprints
only to come under fire from the extremists, about two km from
Duddimalda hamlet between Gangapur and Allampalli.
The police personnel took position and returned the fire, which
lasted 30 minutes. The Adilabad PGA members are understood to
have been camping in the area when they were spotted by the
police.
The PGA members left behind nine kitbags, one 8 mm rifle, a SBBL
gun and a VHF set. Police also recovered some cooking utensils
and diaries.
