By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI, SEPT. 16. Baucon Asia 2001, the sixth edition of the
biennial international trade fair for building materials and
services and construction technology and equipment for Southeast
Asia, is to be held in the Singapore Expo from November 20 to 23,
2001.
Organised by Messe Munchen GmbH (Munich Trade Fair Company) of
Germany and Conference and Exhibition Management Services (CEMS)
of Singapore, Baucon Asia 2001 is co-sponsored by the Building
and Construction Authority (BCA) of Singapore and the Singapore
Institute of Architects Building Centre (SIABC).
According to officials of Messe Munchen and CEMS, who made
presentations here on the fair under the auspices of the Indo-
German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC), over 500 exhibitors from
China/Hong Kong, Finland, the U.K., Spain, the U.S., Germany,
Singapore, India, Italy, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan,
the Czech Republic and the UAE, will display their latest
products on 2,200 square metres of closed and open space.
The fair also will, for the first time, integrate in itself Coats
and Paints Asia 2001 featuring colours for homes, and
Fenestration Asia 2001 focussing on windows and doors. There will
be a ``World Toilet Summit'' featuring sanitary equipment, under
the auspices of the Singapore Restroom Association, Singapore
Plumbing Society and Singapore Sanitaryware Importers and
Exporters Association.
Other highlights of the fair include an ``e-Construction
Pavilion'' and a Finance Facility Centre.
According to Mr. Nikolaus Wollman, Deputy managing Director, IMAG
GmbH, Messe Munchen, which has been holding Bauma and Bau, the
world's leading fairs for the construction industry in the Munich
Fair Grounds and which has in recent years established
partnerships in other countries, is scheduled to hold Bauma China
for the first time at Shanghai/Pudong from November 6 to 9, 2002.
A Bauma India has also been planned for next year.
