Algerian militants warn Washington

ALGIERS, SEPT. 17. A radical Algerian rebel group today threatened to hit U.S. and European interests in Algeria if Washington retaliates against Muslim nations for Tuesday's terror attacks in the U.S.

Mr. Hassan Hattab, head of the Daawa-wal-Jihad (Appeal and Struggle) movement, warned of strong resistance to the West, in a statement carried by the Arabic newspaper El Youm.

``We will strike with force American and European interests in Algeria if they implement their threats to attack Arab and Muslim states...and also if they continue to harass Islamist networks in the U.S., U.K., France and Belgium,'' the group said.
