By-elections peaceful
NEW DELHI, SEPT. 20. An estimated 60 per cent of the electorate
today cast ballots in the bypolls to two Lok Sabha and seven
Assembly seats spread over six States, which passed off
peacefully barring isolated incidents of bogus voting in the
Sabarkantha parliamentary constituency in Gujarat. The bypolls,
seen as the first test of popularity for BJD-BJP coalition
government in Orissa, will also decide the fate of the Assam
Chief Minister, Mr. Tarun Gogoi, who is trying to enter the State
Assembly from the Titabor constituency.
