By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, SEPT. 20. A speech impaired tailor, D. Nagendra Prasad (40), of old Malakpet succumbed to injuries on Thursday after being allegedly tortured by a hearing impaired person, Chandrashekhar Reddy, over a financial dispute.

The victim was picked up by Chandrashekhar Reddy and some others on September 13 and confined to the Deaf and Dumb School at Malakpet crossroads. While demanding repayment of the Rs. 3 lakhs the victim reportedly owes to Reddy, the accused persons physically and mentally tortured Prasad for three days.

On September 16, Chadrashekhar Reddy stabbed Prasad with a knife and left him on the school premises. A constable of Chaderghat police station, Fayaz, got the victim admitted to the Osmania general hospital on the same evening. However, Prasad died in the hospital today while undergoing treatment. The Chaderghat police are investigating the case.

Mystery shrouds widow's death

Mystery shrouded the death of a widow, Shankaramma (40), who succumbed to burn injuries on Wednesday under Humayunagar police station limits.

Minutes before Shankaramma was seen in flames at her residence, she was reportedly engaged in an altercation with a financier, Mahender, of Jummerat Bazar over repayment of money she allegedly borrowed from the latter.

Local residents are suspecting that Mahender might have doused the victim in kerosene and set her ablaze. The Humayunagar police are investigating the case.
