Health check-up for kids
CATCH THEM early, especially if they are children. And nowhere is
it more significant than in the case of health of toddlers and
teenagers. The Kanchi Kamakoti CHILDS Trust Hospital has launched
a master health check-up scheme for children upto 18 years.
In line with the high degree of specialisation in child care, the
hospital has listed the need for promoting the concept of a
healthy child as `a healthy child means a healthy adult'.
There could be minor birth defects relating to visual, dental and
nutrition, which are invariably asymptomatic, says hospital
director, Dr. B.R. Nammalwar. Diagnosis of course requires
specialised investigation, which would then help suggest
appropriate management and counselling as appropriate.
The scheme is open on Thursdays and Saturdays. Physical
examinations include those related to dental, ENT and
ophthalmology by specialists, besides laboratory checks. The
authorities have tentatively fixed the charge at Rs. 600, which
however is subject to review shortly, according to Mr. S.
Natarajan, hospital director.
With the strength of in-house faculty and consultants, the
hospital's new scheme is all set to create awareness on doing
health checks for preventive care.
