Vajpayee Govt. soft on terrorism: Swamy
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI, SEPT. 22. The Vajpayee Government is seen in the
democratic world as being soft on terrorism and of being anti-
minorities and thus an unreliable ally in the crucial struggle
against terrorism, the Janata Party president, Dr. Subramanian
Swamy, said today.
Besides, the BJP-led NDA has pro-LTTE parties such as the MDMK,
the PMK and the Fernandes section of the Samata Party, which Dr.
Swamy charged, ``leak vital information to these terrorists.''
Addressing presspersons here, he recalled that in the 1991 Gulf
War, when he was Cabinet Minister, the U.S. had requested India
to provide airfields for refuelling its planes. ``They did not
even consider Pakistan then,'' he said.
Dr. Swamy demanded an CBI enquiry into the action of the former
Tamil Nadu Governor, Ms. Fathima Beevi, appointing Ms.
Jayalalithaa as Chief Minister. The CBI should also look into the
role played by Ms. Beevi's relatives, he said.
