By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, SEPT. 22. Delphi Aftermarket Operations, a division of Delphi Automotive Systems, today kick-started a consumer contact programme. The objective is to reach out car owners by offering them free service by qualified and trained technicians and engineers.

Delphi is hoping to cover 50,000 car owners in the next nine months through this programme. The exercise will include a ``Delphi Technology Show on Wheels''.

This will showcase the full range of Delphi aftermarket products and a transparent acrylic car. From Tamil Nadu, the programme will move to cover more States in the next few months, culminating finally in Delhi.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Ravi Khanna, Presidentand Managing Director of the company, said Delphi had invested about Rs.400 crores so far in India, establishing four facilities.

On Delphi's plan for the newly spun off TVS Diesel Systems in which it has bought 52.5 per cent equity through the acquisition of Lucas's stake in the venture, following global-level takeover, Mr. Khanna said the `status quo will be maintained''.

The MD was optimistic that TVS Diesel Systems' business would grow in the same manner as that of Delphi.

Mr. Rajiv Arora, Vice-President (Aftermarket Operations in India), said, Delphi would over time see 20 per cent of its revenue coming from aftermarket operations.
