SC notice to Centre

NEW DELHI, SEPT. 24. The Supreme Court today issued notice to the
Centre and the Tamil Nadu and Kerala Governments on a petition
seeking a direction not to raise the water level in the
Mullaiperiyar Dam above 136 ft.
A Bench comprising Mr. Justice N. Santosh Hegde and Mr. Justice
P. Venkatarama Reddy issued the notice on a petition filed by
Mullaiperiyar Environmental Protection Forum, Thekkady in Kerala.
The petition also sought a direction to Kerala and Tamil Nadu
Governments to take steps to restore the natural flow of Periyar
immediately.
