Ordinance to be repealed
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI, SEPT. 24. The Union Cabinet today decided to repeal an
ordinance that was issued in 1941 to provide for maintenance of
certain essential services during World War II.
The old legislation has continued to remain on the statute book
as the ordinance had no time-limit. A bill to repeal it would be
moved in Parliament soon, official sources said.
The ordinance had nothing to do with the Essential Services
Maintenance Acts enacted in 1968 and 1981.
