Go TI gals... Vengaboys in full cry

"NOBODY TAKES away our show," affirm the bunch of four, riding high on the crest of success. "We are used to receiving threats. We are happy being here. All we want to have is fun. Life is a paurtteee... so celebrate," the bohemians that they are, they give you a piece of their philosophy!

Take it or leave it. "Just watch out, everyone's gonna have loads of fun tomorrow at Treasure Island." Party hard, pretty hard is the anthem of this hottest selling band which has churned out many a party anthem for people to dance till they get into a trance. The Vengaboys is in town to rain the city with music `n' masti and a party like never before. As they stepped foot in town on Sunday, the skyline rumbled `boom, boom, boom' and the foursome in their trademark ensemble - as colourful as their lives are - brushed off all criticism and protests over their shows being `vulgar.'

The Vengaboys walked in, led by the girls - the Brazilian lead singer Kim and Hungarian singer and dancer, Denise aka D-Nic with a fetish for fast cars, salads and shoes. Roy, the oldest member of the band, and the youngest, Yorick, the dolphin trainer-turned-singer - he was in his typical seamen's clothes - followed. The Indian experience has been truly amazing, the foursome say. "Indians are party people. They are enthusiastic about music. And their revelries are a bomb."

Can one expect any Indian influence in their next album? "Uhmm... that's a secret. Fusion music is a great idea," they enthuse. And the foursome adore the remix version of Kishore Kumar's `Kabhi nahi...' number being telecast on television channels. "We freak out on the number." About the new album, Kim explains: "We are working on new material. But, we are not in a hurry." She promised it will be "a happy, uplifting and groovy number." But, aren't they looking beyond party numbers? "Why? Aren't they good?" she asks and laughs, "you will definitely not get rock and heavy metal from us."

"Right now, we are happy visiting places. We love travelling. Normally, Westerners who come to India confine themselves to Delhi and Mumbai circuits, but we want to go beyond and experience the `real India'," Kim says. How do the girls in the band feel about its name, Vengaboys? "Oh, we are boys too!", Denise laughs.

Hey, where's Cheekah, the five feet tall robot singer of the group? Will you guys lip sync or will it be a real live show? "Oh, just come down to the show tomorrow and see for yourself," they say, before giving a handshake here and striking a few high- fives among themselves. Someone asks to reel out a message to the youth? And their brows rise in an arc. They look at one another and burst out laughing, "just paurtteee..."
