Train derails after blasts
GUWAHATI, SEPT. 25. A powerful explosion ripped through the
Guwahati-bound North East Express derailing four coaches between
Bijni and Sapkata in Bongaigaon district in Assam, about 190 km
west of the Capital, this evening.
The central control room of the North-East Frontier Railway said
there were no reports of any casualty so far. However, police
said some injured persons had been admitted to Dangtol and Bijni
rural hospitals.
It is not yet clear whether the bomb was planted on tracks or the
blast occurred inside the train. Police said the pantry car
received the maximum impact of the blast, occurred at 5 p.m. The
incident site was stated to be Bodo-infested.
