India for freezing accounts of J&K terrorist outfits
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI, SEPT. 25. India has welcomed the U.S. decision to
freeze the assets of various terrorist organisations, but wants
the list to be expanded to include similar groups operating in
Jammu and Kashmir.
India believes that several organisations such as the Lashkar-e-
Toiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad have been actively abetting terrorism
in Jammu and Kashmir. The Foreign Office today hoped that U.S.
would include such organisations in the list as it spreads its
net wider to deal with ``organisations that are known to indulge
in terrorist activity and have used financial networks to support
terrorism''.
``We would like the list to be expanded to include the
organisations that have been mentioned,'' said a Foreign Office
spokesperson in response to a question. She was confident that
India's concerns would be addressed by the U.S. in due course.
