Dr. Patki passes away
PUNE, SEPT. 25. Former Maharashtra Ranji Trophy player Dr. Subash
Atmaram Patki passed away here late last night after a massive
cardiac arrest. He was 65 and is survived by his wife and two
sons.
The former president of Poona Club, Dr. Patki was a stylish
opening batsman. His cricketing career, however, was short-lived
due to his busy medical profession. A student of BJ Medical
College, he was also the head of the surgery department at Kem
Hospital here.
Gliding was his hobby and he was the secretary of the gliding
centre at Phusungi. His unique record in gliding from Pune to
Hyderabad was acknowledged when he was accorded a warm
felicitation by the Maharashtra Government.
Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) managing committee chairman
Dnyaneshwar Agashe, while condoling the death of Dr. Patki said
that the MCA had lost a pillar. He was not only a fine player but
also a good organiser, Mr. Agashe added. Maharashtra Ranji
wicket-keeper Sanjay Kondhalkar said Dr. Patki was a friend,
philosopher and guide to many an upcoming cricketer.
