Medha Patkar to await clarifications
By Our Special Correspondent
MUMBAI, SEPT. 26. Ms. Medha Patkar, leader of the Narmada Bachao
Andolan (NBA), today refused to call off her 10-day old
indefinite fast though the Maharashtra Chief Minister, Mr.
Vilasrao Deshmukh, announced that the State had accepted in
principle her demands, including the status of 73 forest-
villages.
Ms. Patkar, who had not received any detailed communication from
the Government about its decision, told reporters in the evening
that she would seek clarifications tomorrow before taking any
step.
