Slogans of "Jai Telangana" and "We will achieve Telangana", rent the air soon after he took the oath. Mr. Rao was accompanied by Mr. R. Papa Rao, MLA, Mr. S. Santosh Reddy and Mr. K. Rajeswara Rao, chairmen of Nizamabad and Karimnagar Zilla Parishads, respectively, Mr. M. Narayan Reddy and Dr. Vijayarama Rao, former MPs, Mr. Desina Chinna Malliah and Mr. N. Narasimha Reddy, former MLAs, and a number of supporters, including women. Before entering the Assembly premises, he and his followers paid homage at the Telangana Martyrs Memorial at the Gun Park, in front of the Assembly.

In a brief press conference, Mr. Rao said his massive victory despite offer of money and liquor by the ruling party, showed the high level of awareness about Telangana among the people. It had shaken the political parties and they would now be forced not to ignore Telangana. Having lost deposit, it is time for the Congress-I to review its stand at least now.

He would complete the task of constituting State, district and village committees and the women's wing of the TRS by October end. Responding to a question, he said he expected the allotment of seat in the first row, as he was one of the senior members and a former Deputy Speaker. This apart, there would be two associate members. Three more MLAs were in touch with him and they would announce their decision soon.
