Sudhagaran gets bail in wealth case also

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, SEPT. 26. A special court today enlarged on bail Mr. V. N. Sudhagaran in the `Rs.66-crore disproportionate wealth case'.

Noting that he had already been granted bail in two narcotics cases and the `Gopu Sridhar assault' case, the Judge Mr.A.C. Arumugaperumal Adityan, directed that Mr. Sudhagaran be released on bail on his executing a bond for Rs.50,000 with two sureties for a like sum. He should appear before the Investigating Officer of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti- Corruption on the first working day of each month. He should appear in court for all hearings in the `wealth case'.

Mr. Sudhagaran has been named accused in the wealth case along with Ms. Jayalalithaa, her associate, Ms. Sasikalaa, and the latter's relative Ms. Elavarasi.

The judge said that since he had been granted bail in subsequent criminal cases and as no objections were raised by the Special public prosecutor, there was no embargo on granting bail to the accused in the `wealth case' also.
