Thought provoking
Sir, - The articles and illustrations in your Folio on Faith
(Sept. 23) were excellent and well-timed. The Kaaba (which means
the `cube') by Mr. H. Masud Taj clarifies how the cube represents
the global consolidation of a sacred centre and the mother of all
monumental art. Truly faith and reason are complementary, not
contradictory ways of seeking the truth as admirably said in the
first sutra by Mr. Rudolf C. Heredia in his article, `Dichotomy
or dialectic'. It is interesting to note Mr. Baiji Parthan's
well-reasoned conclusion that technology's newest venture is
intrinsically similar to the one that has always been the domain
of faith and religion.
All attempts to politicise faith and religion are corroding
influences which require to be curbed as argued well by Mr.
Ranjit Hoskote in the article, ``Faith in Transition.''
K. Ramamurthi,
