Trousseau art
Chennai-based designer Bhawna Madan will be showing her creations
at Bridal Asia, scheduled for September 29 to October 1 in New
Delhi.
"Bridal Asia" is back. And it's going to be four days of
rendezvous with glamour and the glitterati. So what's new, the
Chennaiite might ask of the glam slam. Well... this time round,
one of the designers from the city will be participating in the
mega show to be held in New Delhi from September 29 to October 1.
Bhawna Madan from Sunita Design Studio will be displaying her
exclusive trousseau line of saris and ghagras. The young NIFT
product who loves classic couture has effectively fused
traditional styles and modern embellishing techniques. So with
shimmering Swarovski crystals and pretty polygons, her creations
capture the essence of modern beauty with cutting-edge appeal.
Traditional fabrics like Kancheepuram silk and Benarasi take a
hip turn with fine crystal and metal work. Nets, chiffons,
crepes, georgettes and tissue are the other materials Bhawna has
worked on for that stylish trousseau look. Aari, thread work,
beadwork, patchwork and exquisite craftsmanship embellish the
focussed collection. "The tones are wispy, the fabrics soft and
the workmanship subtle... much needed for the sophisticated
look", says Bhawna of the trousseau line. Those interested can
place orders, she adds.
Ritu Kumar, J.J.Valaya, Payal Singhal, Abha Dalmia, Monisha
Bajaj, Rinaldi and Mona Pali are among the host of designers
expected to participate in the show. That's not all. It's a meet
where cross-cultural influences will come to the fore. Bridal
Asia will also turn the spotlight on top-notch designers like
Rizwan Beyz, Niloufer Shahid and Mehreen Noorani of Pakistan,
Maheen Khan and Rina Latif of Dhaka and Yolanda of Sri Lanka.
In addition to the latest in couture, Bridal Asia, put together
by Divya Gurwara, will also showcase trends in jewellery,
accessories and lifestyle products. Bridal Asia will make its
foray abroad with a show in Dubai early next year.
