New VISTAs opened for APTDC facilities

HYDERABAD, SEPT. 27. The Chief Minister, Mr. N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Thursday launched `Versatile Information System for Tourist Attraction (VISTA),' a unique IT-based system of online reservation and instant confirmation of all facilities offered by the A.P. Tourism Development Corporation.

The APTDC-VISTA counters were aimed at providing convenience to tourists as they could go to any of these counters and make bookings for accommodation, conducted tours, sound and light shows and other services of the corporation.

Online confirmation of reservations for all facilities could be received from any of the central reservation offices and other counters spread over 19 locations throughout the State. These include CROs in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati and divisional offices in Hyderabad, Nagarjunasagar, Vijayawada, Kurnool, Rajahmundry and Srisailam.

The facility is also available at APTDC's `Purnami' hotels at Vijaya Vihar in Nagarjunasagar, Warangal, Araku, Horsley Hills, Visakhapatnam and Rishikonda.

The Union Ministry of Information and Technology and the State Government have sponsored the project at a cost of Rs. 2.52 crores, including hardware, touch screen kiosks, networking of different locations etc. The corporation is also planning to introduce online reservation facility through the Internet.

The Tourism Minister, Mr. E. Peddi Reddy, Mr. C. Anjaneya Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director, APTDC, and Mrs. Chandana Khan, Secretary, Tourism and Culture, and senior officials of the Computer Maintenance Corporation Ltd took part.
