Five nominated to KU syndicate
By Our Staff Reporter
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, SEPT. 28. The State Government has issued a
notification, nominating five experts in the fields of
Information Technology and Biotechnology, to the Syndicate of the
Kerala University.
They are Mr. Madhu S. Nair, chairman, Kerala Infotech Limited,
Dr. Jagathy Raj, Reader, School of Management Studies, Cochin
University of Science and Technology, Dr. Thankamony, Head of the
Department of Biotechnology, University of Kerala, Ms. P.A.
Zaheeda, Professor and Head of the Department of Electronics,
Government Engineering College, Palakkad, besides the Secretary
to Government, Department of Information Technology, Ms. Aruna
Sunderarajan.
With these nominations, the pro-Government section in the
syndicate is expected to gain an upperhand, which in turn will
make matters easy for the Government, which can now push through
legislations in academic issues as per its agenda.
The pro-Left members had, so far, been enjoying a majority in
the syndicate and this was being viewed as a thorn in the flesh
for the UDF Government, especially in regard to setting up of
professional colleges in the private sector.
