A burning backyard
Sir, - The incident in Salem, Tamil Nadu, where a 6th standard
student was brutally beaten and burnt by 10th standard students
is as bad as the September 11 attacks.
It is often seen that children are unknowingly very cruel, not
because they do it intentionally, but because they learn through
the actions of elders. Not only do they learn about good and bad
from parents, teachers and superiors in schools and other
institutions but also from their interpretation of how our
country is being ruled. Let us first clean our backyard and then
talk about helping the international coalition fight terrorism.
Esra Tasneem Aslam,
