Muthiah satisfied
CHENNAI, SEPT. 28 Mr. A.C. Muthiah, president, Board of Control
for Cricket in India, was not willing to speculate on the eve of
the BCCI's annual elections slated for Saturday and Sunday.
Talking to presspersons at the Taj Coramandel Hotel, the venue
for the BCCI meeting, on Friday, he said, ``It is unethical for
me to comment, or predict anything about the elections. The
wisdom of the house will prevail.''
In the same breath, Mr. Muthiah added he was pleased with the
Board's record under his stewardship. ``I am absolutely satisfied
with our performance. We have done extremely well.''
About the difficulties faced by the BCCI over the last couple of
years, with the match-fixing scandal raising its ugly head, Mr.
Muthiah noted, ``we have sailed smoothly over all of them.''
He is being challenged for the President's post by Mr. Jagmohan
Dalmiya, former chairman of the International Cricket Council
(ICC). Mr. Muthiah welcomed the battle observing, ``In democracy,
it is good to have a contest.''
