DD, AIR urged to promote Hindi

HYDERABAD, SEPT. 29. The Hindi Salahkar Samithi meeting of the
Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting was held here on
Saturday with the Union Minister for Information and
Broadcasting, Ms. Sushma Swaraj, in the chair. Her deputy, Mr.
Ramesh Bais, was also present.
Reviewing the progress of Hindi implementation, Ms. Sushma Swaraj
said that 90 per cent of the work in her Ministry was being done
in Hindi. She urged Doordarshan and AIR to become sources of
promoting knowledge of Hindi through their programmes.
Mr.Ramesh Bais said it was the endeavour of the Ministry to
implement the suggestions that cropped up in the meeting.
Earlier, Ms. Sushma Swaraj released a Hindi publication
``Panjeeyan Bharathi'' brought out by the Registrar of Newspapers
for India.
The Samithi paid homage to Kotla Vijayabhaskar Reddy by observing
a two-minute silence.
