Bomb hoax at Eiffel tower
PARIS, SEPT. 30. The Eiffel tower was briefly evacuated today
after an anonymous caller warned of a bomb at the capital's most
visited landmark.
After an intensive search operation, police found nothing
suspicious, and the tower was reopened around an hour later.
A security cordon was immediately put into place around the
tower, and visitors were cleared from the plaza underneath the
monument before the tower's management decided to temporarily
evacuate the premises.
Employees said it was the first time the Eiffel tower had been
evacuated since the September 11 attacks in the U.S.
