Leaders condole Scindia's death

CHENNAI, SEPT. 30. Several leaders and political parties today condoled the death of the senior Congress leader and former Union Minister, Mr. Madhavrao Scindia, who died in a plane crash in Uttar Pradesh.

The PMK founder, Dr. S. Ramadoss, in a statement, said in his demise a political career had been nipped in the bud.

Expressing shock at the death of Mr. Scindia, the TNCC-I president, Mr. E.V.K.S. Elangovan, said the death of the frontline Congress leader was an irreparable loss to the country.

The general secretary of the MGR-ADMK, Mr. S. Thirunavukkarasu, said the death of Mr. Scindia, who strived for the welfare of the common man despite his royal background, was a loss to the country.

The Makkal Tamil Desam leader, Mr. S. Kannappan, also mourned the death of Mr. Scindia.

Our Pondicherry Staff Reporter writes:

The death of Mr. Madhavrao Scindia has come as a rude shock to Congress volunteers. The PCC leader, Mr. V. Narayanaswamy, said, in his condolence message, Mr. Scindia was a good parliamentarian and was a source of strength to partymen. The death of Mr. Scindia was an irreparable loss, he said.
