Global Infologistics' JV with U. S. firm

CHENNAI, SEPT. 30. The Chennai-based Global Infologistics (GIL), promoted by Mr. V. Ramasamy, an NRI, has joined hands with Inner Circle Logistics(ICL) of the U.S. to bring the benefits of integrated supply chain management solutions to agricultural sector and especially small and medium enterprises in the industrial sector for maximising productivity and profits.

GIL would be developing software for the U.S company. It would also be marketing the ICL products in India, Sri Lanka, West Asia, Far East and Australia.

The total investment visualised for the joint venture would be around $2.5 million. Immediately it would be spending $500,000 for developing products, said Mr. V. Ramasamy, Chairman and CEO, GIL at a press conference here on Saturday.

The company has been working out a formula for funding the joint venture. Global Infologistics would contribute to the equity to the extent of 30 per cent and ICL 30 per cent. The balance may be found through venture capital.

GIL will soon be launching RuralPro, a one-stop solution to the rural farming agri community for increased crop output techniques.

Efforts are being made to spread the power of Internet along with `all-in-one' rural processes under the supervision of agricultural specialist, Dr. M. S. Swaminathan.

The other products are BizPro and CallPro.

Under BizPro the company would be providing integrated supply demand management solutions and services for enhancing productivity and savings to achieve maximum profits in industries, institutions and government, according for providing integrated supply demand management solutions, according to Mr. T.K. Rangaswamy, a director of the company.

Under the portfolio CallPro, the company would providing call- contact center outsourced services for enhancing productivity and savings.

Mr. John A Clendenin, President and CEO of Inner Circle Logistics, said the JV would market the products developed by GIL worldwide.

He said the companies that pioneered the concept of integrated supply chain have enjoyed reduction of up to 25 per cent in inventory carrying costs alone.
