Abdul Kalam copter crash: probe ordered
RANCHI, OCT. 1. The Jharkhand Government will order a probe into
lapses which led to the crash of the helicopter carrying the
Prime Minister's Scientific Advisor, Mr. Abdul Kalam, to Bokaro
yesterday.
Talking to newspersons here today, the Chief Minister, Mr.
Babulal Marandi, said he had demanded an explanation from the
State administration why a single engine chopper was used for
flying Mr. Kalam to Bokaro. Dr. Kalam escaped unhurt in the
incident.
Mr. Marandi said the State Director General of Police, Mr. T.P.
Sinha, had been asked to inquire into the matter. The State
administration normally uses a twin engine aircraft for VVIP
movement.
Regarding growing insurgency in the State, he said his Government
was committed to flushing out the ultra outfits.
