Honda sales up in Sept.

NEW DELHI, OCT. 1. Honda Siel Cars reported a 4.3 per cent rise in its sales at 1,149 cars in September against 1,101 units sold in the same month last year. The September sales were an increase of 25.8 per cent over 913 cars sold in August this year, a company statement said.

Cumulative sales (April-September 2001-02) however, dropped by 2.9 per cent to 5,001 cars from 5,151 cars in the year-ago period.

Honda Siel manufactures the mid-size City and the luxury Accord cars at its plant in Uttar Pradesh.

General Motors

General Motors India (GMI) today said its September car sales have dropped by 30.6 per cent at 800 cars against 1,153 cars sold in the same month last year.

Sales were also down by 15.7 per cent as compared to 950 cars sold in August, a company spokesperson told PTI.

Cumulative sales (April-September 2001-02) went down by 8.7 per cent to 4,175 cars from 4,575 cars sold in the year-ago period.

The company sold 235 units of premium mid-size Opel Astra and 430 mid-size Opel Corsa during September, the spokesperson said.Sales of the recently launched station Wagon Opel Corsa Swing were 135 units.
