It's time to restrain Pak., PM tells Bush
New Delhi, Oct. 2. Citing Monday's suicide attack on the Jammu
and Kashmir Assembly, the Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari
Vajpayee, has written to the United States President, Mr. George
Bush, bringing to his attention the need to urgently restrain
Pakistan from backing international terrorists in Kashmir.

Washington, Oct. 2. The U.S. President, Mr. George Bush, has
personally assured India that the U.S. campaign against terrorism
is global and not uni-dimensional as seen through the prism of
Osama bin Laden and the Al-Qaeda terror network.
Time running out for Taliban: Blair
London, Oct. 2. Even as Washington continued to tread cautiously,
there was feverish speculation here that military action against
Afghanistan was imminent after the British Prime Minister, Mr.
Tony Blair, said today that the deadline for the Taliban
Government to hand over Osama bin Laden, wanted for his role in
the September 11 attacks in the U.S., was fast approaching and it
should now brace itself for the consequences.
Share proof, Pak. tells U.S.
Islamabad, Oct. 2. The U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan, Ms. Wendy J.
Chamberlin, today called on the Pakistan President, Gen. Pervez
Musharraf, and discussed a whole range of issues, including
evidence against Osama in the September 11 incidents.
Advani to visit Srinagar today
New Delhi, Oct. 2. The Union Home Minister, Mr. L. K. Advani, is
slated to visit Srinagar tomorrow to review the law and order
situation, following Monday's terrorist attack on the Jammu and
Kashmir Assembly. His day-long interaction with senior officials
is expected to take into account the recent escalation in attacks
on security agencies after a comparative lull in the wake of the
September 11 bombings in the U.S.
Big win for Khaleda Zia
Dhaka, Oct. 2. The four-party alliance led by the Bangladesh
Nationalist Party (BNP) chief, Begum Khaleda Zia, is heading for
a landslide victory in the general elections, crushing the Sheikh
Hasina-led Awami League's hopes of retaining control over the
government.
WTO drops labour issues
New Delhi, Oct. 2. Developing countries have scored a major point
at the international trade forum - the World Trade Organisation
(WTO) has `dropped' all labour-related issues from its agenda.

Ahmedabad, Oct. 2. The Gujarat Chief Minister, Mr. Keshubhai
Patel, indicated here today that he still enjoyed the majority
