PWG gaining access to police communication sets

By Our Staff Reporter

KHAMMAM, OCT. 2. The PWG is suspected to have gained access to the police communication network on the inter-State borders of Andhra Pradesh, Chhatisgarh and Orissa. Its cadres are reportedly holding out threats by coming on to the police sets. The Mothugudem police station in Lower Sileru is one of the border stations often receiving such threatening calls.

The police suspect that the calls were originating from a distance of about 25 to 30 kilometers. The PWG is said to be having powerful equipment to intercept the communication channels.

The PWG is said to adopt a definite strategy. The police are warned on the sets about an imminent attack on the station on a particular day. When the department engages the police in full strength to guard the station, the PWG is moving its cadres across the river or from one village to another.

Some police stations in the Sileru belt were depending till recently on the communication network of the AP Genco in the absence of basic telecom facilities.

The police authorities are in touch with the Malkangiri (Orissa) and Dantewada (Chhatisgarh) districts also to assess the possible complications of the PWG access to police information.

In the meantime, the Department has decided to avoid conversation over the communication sets for crucial information such as on movement of forces and elected representatives.
