A model leader
Sir, - Your Editorial on Madhavrao Scindia (Oct. 2) is a tribute
to a present day model leader. He enjoyed a royal status among
the people though he belonged to a particular political party.
Crossing party lines everybody respected him as a new generation
leader.
Unfortunately, India could not utilise his capabilities fully. It
is because, as you rightly observed, he lacked the political
cunning and the street-smart guile. He even deserved to be the
leader of his party. His demise is not only a loss to his party
but to the nation also.
R. Devanath,
Tirupati, A.P.
Sir, - In the death of Madhavrao Scindia, we have lost a dynamic
and promising leader. And alongwith him some talented
newspersons.
Whatever be the findings of the inquiry that has been ordered
into the accident, the Government should bring a Civil Aviation
Security Act and take steps for stricter security measures for
all aircrafts, including those owned privately.
A. Jacob Sahayam,
Karigiri,T.N.
