Modi to take oath on Sunday

GANDHINAGAR, OCT. 4. Mr. Narendra Modi was today formally elected
leader of the Gujarat BJP Legislature Party to be sworn in on
Sunday as the 14th Chief Minister of the State.
The outgoing Chief Minister, Mr. Keshubhai Patel, proposed Mr.
Modi's name and another former Chief Minister, Mr. Suresh Mehta,
seconded it. The party's former national president, Mr. Kushabhau
Thakre, and vice-president, Mr. Madanlal Khurana, were present as
central observers.
