Film Review: Kabadi Kabadi

IF THE same film had been made about five years ago Bhagyaraj would have been the hero. But now it is his one time assistant Pandiarajan who has not only acted but also directed the script of his mentor. Comedy is the main line in Saranya Cine Creations's ``Kabadi Kabadi'' and all the scenes are made in a lighter vein. But at times one needs a little more of drama and sentimental scenes to move the film to a higher plane. There are two or more comedy actors in it (Pandiarajan, Manivannan, Murthy).

Hero Pandiarajan comes to the city in search of a means of livelihood and he gets a manager's post in a private firm. He stays in a house for which the rent is nominal. A beautiful college going girl stays in the opposite house. Karan, who is also a bachelor, comes and stays with him. Pandiarajan is basically a good man and Karan is the opposite. He has all the bad habits. But due to circumstances all the good things done by Pandiarajan are attributed to Karan and vice versa. Pandiarajan tries his best to show that he is interested in the girl but it is in vain. In the climax the whole thing changes and there also comedy takes the front seat.

Pandiarajan has matured in looks and ought to have concentrated more on the makeup. Sangeetha, the girl he is in love with, is lovely in some angles and has little work to do except deliver a page of dialogue in the climax. Karan has used his acting capacity to the full extent. Manivannan's work is satisfactory. K.Rajan as the dada chief thinks that Pandiarajan is his `boss'. It is another case of mistaken identity. R.Sundararajan and Aarathi are also in the cast.

K.Nithya's camera work is natural and goes along with film. Deva's music has little to do with the film and he must have chosen the correct voice to suit the hero of the film. Story is simple but the screenplay and dialogue by K.Bhagyaraj show that he has not lost touch with comedy. The film is produced by Poornima Bhagyaraj and directed by Pandiarajan.
