First in many ways

AT KANDAN Chavadi, Prasanth and Rinki Khanna were running and searching for each other. As the crowd was swelling the director was finding it difficult to shoot. The work was in the finishing stages anyway, said director Ravichandran.

Cee (I) TV Entertainment "Majnu'' has a lot of firsts to its credit. It has a new heroine in Rinki Khanna. For the first time a major portion of a film is shot in Kolkata and that too in the temple of the Goddess Kali. After completing the important scenes director Ravichandran decided to do the action ones in a set specially erected. Dr. Murali Manohar, who was instrumental in bringing alive the seven wonders of the world in "Jeans," is doing ``Majnu". "For me this is one of the films which is based on love, family sentiment and all the ingredients which make a film succeed at the box office. I am sure the songs by Harris Jayaraj have given a fillip to the film and till now the sale of the cassettes has been very encouraging," the director says.

"Majnu" is a film for everybody — both the layman and the elite. It has a good story with all the twists and turns. The story revolves round Prasanth who is in search of his lady love, Rinki Khanna. He comes to know that she is in Kolkata and goes there. That is the time of Kali pooja. He gets caught in the crowd where the villain tries to kill him.

Raguvaran, Vivek, Sonu (new villain), Rathi Agnihothri and Hemanth are in the cast. Dances are choreographed by Raju Sundaram, camera is handled by Thanker Bhachan, editing is done by Lenin V. T. Vijayan, music is scored Harris Jayaraj, lyrics are penned Vairamuthu, dialogue is written by Balakumaran and the story, screenplay, direction are by Ravichandran. The film is produced by Dr. Murali Manohar.
