Heavy shelling in Kargil

SRINAGAR, OCT. 5. Pakistani troops resorted to heavy shelling in
the Kargil sector and the people in Kaksar and Latu villages were
evacuated. In the Poonch sector, the security forces foiled an
infiltration bid, killing 11 militants.
A spokesman for Leh-based 14 Corps headquarters confirmed to The
Hindu that unprovoked shelling and artillery firing were
continuing.Reports said that a number of houses were damaged.
