Youth Front(B) against raising retirement age
By Our Staff Reporter
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, OCT. 5.
The Kerala Youth Front(B) has opposed the UDF Government's move
to raise the retirement age and urged the Government to announce
its youth policy.
Addressing a press conference here today, the president of the
front, Mr. Brijesh Abraham, said the move would add to the
unemployment problem in the State. Though several Governments had
ruled the State, none of them implemented a long-term programme
to tackle the problem. He urged the UDF to evolve such a
programme.
Reacting against the bus fare hike, Mr. Abraham said it would
have been avoided if Mr. Balakrishna Pillai were the Transport
Minister. The front would hold a dharna in front of the
Secretariat on October 18 to protest against the KSRTC bus fare
hike and unemployment, he added.
The front leaders, Mr. Shibi George, Mr. Poovattur Surendran and
Mr. Ramdas Panthaplavil, also attended the press conference.
