RTC unions harden stand
By Our Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD, OCT. 6. The Joint Action Committee of the APSRTC
unions here on Saturday rejected the management's proposal of a
moratorium on pay revision for two years and also that of a
scheme of incentive based on increased income and reduced
expenditure.
Mr. B. Rama Rao, Mr. P. Ram Mohan Rao and Mr. R. Laxmaiah,
leaders of the JAC, said in a statement that moratorium could not
be agreed and the wage revision due on April 1, 2001, should be
reasonably settled and service conditions improved.
They urged the vice-chairman and MD of the corporation, Mr. R.P.
Singh, to convince the Government that illegal transport
operations were eating away Rs. 400-crore revenue annually and
the burden of concessions was to the tune of Rs. 230 crores. If
both the matters were settled in the corporation's favour, then
it would come out of the red.
Mr. R.P. Singh in turn suggested the JAC leaders meet the Cabinet
Sub-Committee.
As the stalemate continued, the JAC leaders once again reiterated
their stand that the proposed indefinite strike from October 15
was on.
