Some corporate houses tried to remove me: Sinha
NEW DELHI, OCT. 7. The Union Finance Minister, Mr. Yashwant
Sinha, has said some corporate houses had tried to get him
removed from his post but he remained ``cool and non-chalant''.
``I did get to hear rumours that I was being removed, but I
remained cool and non-chalant,'' Mr. Sinha told the Star Talk
programme telecast today.
``Some forces had resorted to a concerted campaign against me and
it was from some corporates,'' he said. ``I was held responsible
for a number of things for which there was no reason to hold me
responsible,'' the Minister added.
Mr. Sinha said the Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee, then
made it clear that he would continue as the Finance Minister.
On the state of economy, Mr. Sinha said he was hopeful of a
turnaround soon. On his efforts to put the country's economy on a
sound footing, he said ``In fact, I have worked harder in the
Ministry during the last three-and-a-half years than even when I
prepared for the IAS examinations.''
