Indian team in Karachi to bring back fishermen

ISLAMABAD, OCT. 7. An Indian delegation arrived in the port city of Karachi today to bring back 196 detained Indian fishermen proposed to be released by Pakistan along with their boats.

The delegation comprised officials from the Fisheries Department of Gujarat and representatives of launch owners and fishermen association.

The Indian High Commission here said today that Indian officials would examine the sea worthiness of the 32 fishing launches which were seized by Pakistani authorities when they arrested the fishermen for allegedly intruding into Pakistan waters.

They said Pakistani authorities had agreed to release the fishermen as soon as the boats were repaired and handed over.
