Pat for RAF in tackling communal violence
JAMSHEDPUR, OCT.7. The Rapid Action Force (RAF) has played an
effective role in the country in tackling communal violence and
maintaining law and order, the Jharkhand Chief Minister, Mr.
Babulal Marandi said today.
Appreciating the social service rendered by the RAF, along with
the CRPF, during national disasters like the super cyclone in
Orissa and devastating earthquake in Gujarat, Mr. Marandi said
the force, raised on October 7, 1992, was doing a commendable
service throughout the country. He was speaking at the ninth
anniversary of the RAF at the CRPF camp at Sundernagar here.
Referring to the history of the RAF, he said it was created in
1992, as a wing of the CRPF, to deal with communal riots. The
force was now dedicated to social service and tackling law and
order problems throughout the country.
