3 share Nobel for medicine

STOCKHOLM, OCT. 8. Dr. Leland Hartwell of the U.S. and Dr. Timothy Hunt and Dr. Paul Nurse, both of Britain, were today awarded the Nobel medicine prize for 2001 for research on cells that opens new possibilities for the treatment of cancer, the Nobel jury said.

The trio were awarded the prize in recognition of their work into ``key regulators of the cell cycle,'' the process by which living cells multiply, according to the citation. They will share the prize money of $1 million.
