STOCKHOLM, OCT. 9. Mr. Eric Cornell and Mr. Carl Wieman of the
U.S. alongwith Mr. Wolfgang Ketterle of Germany today won the
Nobel physics prize for 2001 for discoveries of principles
governing the behaviour of matter. The trio were awarded the
prize ``for the achievement of Bose-Einstein condensation in
dilute gases of alkali atoms, and for early fundamental studies
of the properties of the condensates,'' the jury said.
